With Munich Creative Business Week on, Munich Jewellery Week underway and a new exhibition on in Haus der Kunst, there’s plenty to do as spring gets going this week.
Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox is at the Muffathalle (original location was meant to be Backstage) on Tuesday. I love their fun covers, but tickets on the door are pretty pricy (€44).
On Wednesday, the Stadtmuseum is opening a new exhibition dedicated to quirky art nouveau – the works of Düsseldorf artist Carl Strathmann will be on display.
You can celebrate eight years of the lovely Salon Irkutsk this Wednesday – they’re hosting a little party from 5pm.
From Thursday to Saturday, the Frameworks Festival is taking place at Blitz. The festival celebrates more abstract, experimental music, and acts from around the world will be performing – ranging from Manchester’s Tape Loop Orchestra to New York electronic composer Soho Rezanejad. The festival has been running since 2011 and it’s an excellent platform for discovering experimental acts.
The Nockherberg Starkbierfest gets going on Friday (and will run until early April), which gives you a chance to don your dirndl/lederhosen again. If you’re serious about visiting, do reserve a table in advance – you can do it online.
Nurse your hangover with a Guinness at the St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday – the parade will go from Münchner Freiheit to Odeonsplatz and is set to be – as always – a lively, loud affair.
