The world’s greatest living composer (so says his official site) is at the Olympiahalle on Tuesday. Ennio Morricone will be conducting from 8pm onwards, and there are a few tickets still available (they’re pretty pricy).
From Wednesday to Friday, the Frameworks Festival is taking place in both the Muffathalle and Einstein. Entrance to the experimental music festival is entirely free, though as I’ve mentioned in the past, do get to the venue early, as the halls fill up very quickly. The pianist Hauschka is playing at the Muffathalle on Wednesday – he was recently nominated for an Oscar for best score, alongside Dustin O’Halloran, for Lion – so if you want to see a 2017 Oscar nominee perform FOR FREE, do pop along. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm (Hauschka’s on stage from 9:15pm). For the full program, click here.
Toronto’s Austra are at the Ampere on Thursday, on tour with their latest album Future Politics. It’s a minimal, political album, featuring Katie Stelmanis’ voice at its powerful best.
Also on Thursday, a man from my home town is playing at the Orangehouse. Dan Owen is a twenty-four year old singer-songwriter, and he’s doing so well – he’s been featured in plenty of UK national newspapers and is now signed to Atlantic Records. Do check him out, he has a voice that’s well beyond his years. Tickets are just 12 € plus fees.
Two new exhibitions are launching in the Haus der Kunst this Friday – the first, Harun Farocki: Counter Music, and the second is a celebration of the Berlin music label/collective Free Music Production (FMP).
On Sunday, the annual Saint Patrick’s parade is taking place in Munich. It starts at Münchner Freiheit at midday and ends at Wittelsbacherplatz (near Odeonsplatz) with music, drinks and lots of dancing.
