Ballet festival week

This post’s been a while coming (and I’m a little slow off the mark), but I have an excuse! Last week I was out and about in Barcelona, enjoying some sun, sea, tapas and good Spanish wine. But I’m back – and I’ve already been to the ballet.

On Sunday, the Staatsballett’s annual ballet festival kicked off in Munich. It’ll run until next Monday, and if you’re quick, you can snap up the final few tickets available.

Last night, I saw Sleeping Beauty performed by the Mikhailovsky Ballet group. It was breathtakingly beautiful – stunning costumes, the set was magical and they created the perfect fairytale. Ekaterina Borchenko was spectacular, and Tchaikovsky’s music was the icing on the cake.

I’m also going to a couple of other performances this week – the Terpischore Gala XI program – and there are still tickets available – starts at 7.30pm and runs until 10.30pm.

On Saturday, the eagerly awaited Heroes will premier, focusing on the Greek brothers  Epimetheus and Prometheus, and their conflict. Choreography is from Australian Terence Kohler. Plenty of tickets are still available, and it will continue to show throughout May, June and July – and dates are even fixed for 2014, if you fancy planning ahead!
