I arrived at the Emotion Spa at the Le Meridien Hotel at Munich’s Hauptbahnhof early in the morning with a friend, determined to make the most of our day of luxury. So we started off in the pool – which was completely empty when we showed up. We swam several lengths before we jumped in the whirlpool, before heading to the loungers to do some reading.
After a good reading session, we headed to the sauna. Which the hotel had forgotten to turn on until late in the morning, so after a fairly dull few minutes of sitting at 45°C, we moved to the steam bath. I held out for about five minutes, before running out to take an ice-cold shower.
Later on, the sauna was hot, and we headed back to sweat it out. Cue another round of swimming, napping and reading, before taking a shower and heading out into the cold Munich night. On the way home, we stopped off at Cafe Mozart for a lobster coconut cream soup and a schnitzel.
If you feel the need to escape the bustle of the city (and boy, with the crowds in Munich’s city centre right now, I can totally understand), head on over to the Emotion Spa. Day tickets cost 25 €, treatments are extra – prices can be viewed here. When I go back, I’m definitely booking a pedicure.
