This week in Munich – James Blake, Young Chinese Dogs, Editors

James Blake is the highlight of this week in Munich. The twenty-four year old is playing the Muffathalle on Wednesday, and tickets cost 28 € in advance. Personally, I’m not that fussed by his new album, I think his debut was way better. But he does have a brilliant voice:

But let’s start at the beginning. Tonight, a band from my old stomping ground are playing the Tonhalle. Editors, from Birmingham, released The Weight of Your Love this June, and this is the punchy second single from the album:

On Thursday, one of my favourite local bands, Young Chinese Dogs, are playing The Atomic Cafe. On Friday, they’re releasing their latest album, Farewell to Fate, and you can check out their newest songs a day in advance at the party.

Also, Shaggy’s playing Backstage Werk on Thursday. Who knew he was still making music?! Boombastic.

On Friday and Saturday, there’s a fantastic festival going on at the Gasteig. Digitalanalog 11 is entirely free, and focuses on the best of alternative music and culture. Bavarian band A Home. A Heart. Whatever are playing, one band I can highly recommend.
