Munich’s festival for contemporary documentary photography runs from 16-20 October, 2019, and it’s being held at Lothringer 13. This year, FOTODOKS has France as its guest country, and features a 15 photographers from France and Europe. It’s become the largest festival of its kind in Germany, and it provides a fantastic opportunity to check out some of the most relevant art to our society at present.
The main exhibition is being held until November 24, so you have plenty of time to head down to Lothringer 13 to check it out, but the festival itself – with artist talks – runs for five days this week.
It opens tomorrow at 6pm, and there’s an after-party at POLKA from 10:30pm. Many of the artist talks over the course of the festival are in English, which is brilliant, and you can learn a great deal about the artists’ international projects.
At 8pm on 19 October, as part of the Long Night of Munich Museums, a couple of incredibly interesting talks are planned – a talk between curator Gürsoy Doğtaş and photographer Laurence Rasti titled “There are no homosexuals in Iran” and a talk on LGBT refugee stories, from people persecuted for their sexual orientation.
