Coronavirus hit small businesses hard, as cafes, restaurants and stores were forced to close throughout spring. As lockdown eased, businesses reopened, but many are still feeling the effects of the virus. There are fewer tourists, cautious locals are sticking to their own districts, and many people are still working from home, and not strolling about the city in their lunch breaks.

Earlier this year, Céline Raue and Sebastian Hecker came up with the most wonderful idea to support local firms. They created the LocalHeroBox. Their idea was simple: They wanted to gather the best products local businesses had to offer, parcel them up, and send them out to people keen to support Munich companies.

Each box contains five to seven products from Munich businesses. These range from coffee beans from gangunggäbe and pretzel bites from Munich Munch, to natural beauty products from Seven Trees and locally-made soda.

You can choose which range of products you’d like to put in the box. Choose from local produce (which includes honey, pretzel bites, etc), drinks (coffee, cocoa, tea) or cosmetics and scrubs.

Sebastian tells me that a lot of their customers are companies, thanking employees for their adaptability in working from home, which is a lovely idea. If you want to treat a friend, a relative, or, should I have a CEO reading (ha!), your company, check out the LocalHeroBox website here, and order today.
