Celebrating its 20th anniversary with a bang, the Long Night of Munich Museums is back this Saturday. Entrance to all of the 90 museums costs just €15, and it kicks off at 7pm and runs until 2am – who hasn’t wanted to explore a museum in the dead of night?! The kids’ program includes 17 museums and gets underway in the afternoon, so there’s no need for the young ones to miss out on any of the fun.
Making your life even easier, the ticket doubles up as a public transport pass – and the organisers are putting on the usual shuttle buses to make museum trips as easy as possible.
So what is there to look forward to?
US artist Swoon at MUCA
Throughout the evening (8pm-11pm), the artist herself will be present to offer guided tours (in English) of her exhibition at MUCA. The mixed media artist is one of the most well-known street artists, and the exhibition is a retrospective of her work, from 1999 to the present day.
Bavarian food at the Bier and Oktoberfest Museum
Start your evening as you mean to go on – the Bier and Oktoberfest Museum is offering Bavarian delicacies from 6pm (reserve in advance to score some obatzda!).
Photography at Espace Louis Vuitton
Curated by LV menswear’s artistic director Virgil Abloh, this exhibition features pieces from upcoming photographers. The theme is growing up – and shows life in a variety of social situations.
North Korean propaganda at Kunstraum
Learn more about what it is like to study painting in North Korea in this fascinating exhibition at Sendlinger Tor’s Kunstraum. Sun Mu worked as a propaganda painter in North Korea, before fleeing to South Korea in the nineties.

I have often professed to loving a drink in the Goldene Bar, and you can combine a Saturday night cocktail with a visit to the two exhibitions currently on in HdK – Miriam Cahn and Markus Lüpertz. There will be guided tours in German, too.
Visit the Müller’sches Volksbad
Pack your trunks and take a guided tour of the Müller’sches Volksbad, Munich’s most beautiful baths! (I’m joking, the tour is fully clothed.) It starts at 9pm and the tour is in German.
