If you’re interested in taking a class in Munich, where do you look? Maybe the Volkshochschule catalogue? But what if you’re after something they don’t offer? Or something non-institutional? Maybe at the events listings in a magazine or newspaper? Maybe on social media?
Thanks to Matthias Geiger and Marc Scherer, it’s now possible to view upcoming creative classes on one, easy-to-navigate platform: SkillFellows. From sewing courses to acting classes, from beer brewing to bellydancing, SkillFellows has dozens of courses listed online. With just a couple of clicks, you can select dates, read up on the tutor and book your spot.
It’s a brilliant, simple idea that gathers together Munich’s best classes in one spot. Matthias Geiger decided to develop the platform having researched acting classes for himself. “I was overwhelmed by the amount of different classes in Munich and had a hard time deciding which would be best.” He then created a meet-up group, to meet other people who wanted to develop their skills.
“Quite a few people joined the group and participated in events I posted, so I decided to create a platform for it, where talented people can list their courses and find participants more easily. This was something that teachers were struggling with – there is so much competition on Google, and most teachers aren’t online marketers”.
The website is currently only available in German, but it’s so easy to navigage, language shouldn’t be a problem. Do note though, that most of the courses offered are just in German.
