A couple of years ago, I posted a rather popular Christmas gift guide for those Münchners in your life. For some reason, I completely forgot to do so last year, but as I’m planning my Christmas list right now, I decided to share some of my findings with you.
For gig-goers
There are some cool gigs planned for early next year. Die Antwoord is at the Zenith on January 21, Alt-J is at the Zenith in February and Jose Gonzalez is playing in the Muffathalle in March.
For gourmets
If you know someone who enjoys eating out, TasteTwelve is a superb Christmas gift. You get to try twelve different, individually selected restaurants around Munich, including No. 15, which recently received a Michelin star. One main course is free when you buy two, and all you have to do is reserve in advance and mention your TasteTwelve book.
Man versus Machine sells packs of home roasted coffee, and as one of Munich’s best roasters, I will most definitely be stocking up on a few packs this winter.
Giesinger‘s new location has a merchandise shop, full of goodies that are perfect Christmas gifts. Either grab a crate of beer, or create a little hamper of beer mustard, Weizenbock and a Giesinger “drink local, think global” tee.
Quattro Tavoli have great wines, and are currently selling their excellent Puglian Primitivo for 13.60 €. Handmade wines are available at 225 Liter too – they have some great offers on a range of wines right now.
For theatre lovers
Performing Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, the Staatliches Russisches Ballett Moskau will be performing at the Gasteig throughout January.
If you know someone who loves theatre, but have no idea what to buy tickets for, the Staatoper’s gift vouchers are an excellent gift – available for 20 €, 50 € or 100 €.
For style icons
OK, there’s no Munich store, but Lake Constance’s Eve & Adis’ cork products are so cool. I have a cork purse, and it’s as durable as leather.
Psst, a little bird’s told me that Hannes Roether is hosting a warehouse sale until Sunday 7 December, so get down to their Landsberger Str. warehouse for some great discounts.
For handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewellery made by four very talented ladies, Tragbar (Zenettistraße) is a great place to go shopping.
If you love stylish items for the home, Munich’s Produkte + Gestaltung has some gorgeous pieces of furniture, and very stylish smaller products – like egg cups – too.
Something unusual
This Sunday, the Japandult is taking place at the Glockenbachwerkstatt. Even if you don’t end up buying anything, the musicial accompaniment (Coconami) will make the trip very worthwhile:
