La Vokue

La Vokue in Westend is the loveliest little cafe. Serving homemade, organic food weekdays from 8am-4pm, La Vokue offers healthy breakfasts, hearty lunches and indulgent cakes and tarts. It opened in May, with Amrei and Marleen at the helm.

Head there in the morning for some of Marleen’s homemade granola with fresh berries, local Vits coffee and sandwiches for your Brotzeit, for lunch for their daily specials (ranging from quiche and tagliatelle with herb butter, to African peanut stew and Käsespätzle), or pop by for afternoon tea and cake – Amrei’s lemon meringue tart is to die for.

I’m a huge fan of Marleen’s breakfast sweet potato bread (entirely vegan, unless you go on to slather it in butter for a rich morning treat, ahem), and her homemade lemonade is a refreshing drink on hot summer afternoons.

Check out the weekly menu on La Vokue’s homepage or via Facebook to decide when to stop by this week.

The design’s pretty cute too – Marleen has stitched every single cushion herself, and the old-fashioned pepper pots and floral crockery add a colourful, quaint touch.

While the cafe closes at 4pm, it is possible to hire it out for the evening – it holds around twenty, so if you are planning a birthday party, get in touch with Amrei and Marleen for more info.

Find La Vokue at Landsberger Str. 137 (Tram: Barthstraße, S-Bahn Donnersbergerbrücke).
Open weekdays, 8am-4pm.

  1. Dear Rachel, once again you are giving the BEST insider tipps.
This place sounds so lovely, I have to stop by soon, with a very empty belly also, like it seems 😉
    Thanks so much for suggesting!
