Cafe Marais

Cafe Marais in Westend is a very cute cafe. The building’s a beautiful Altbau, and the old wooden floors and high ceilings help the cafe retain its charm.

The fresh fruit salads are always worth ordering – pomegranate mixed with chopped apples, pineapple, mango, banana and grapes. It’s always wonderfully fresh, and the coffee’s constantly good.

Westend is home to lots of independent stores – HeimatPunk is nearby, and the fantastic second-hand store Herrenabteilung/Damenabteilung is opposite the cafe. If you’re headed to Cafe Marais for a lazy brunch, I can wholeheartedly recommend a stroll around Westend afterward.

The cafe also sells little gifts – olde worlde toys, quaint postcards, jewellery and acrylic paints. The furniture in the cafe is also for sale – if the table you’re sat at takes your fancy, you just might be able to take it home with you.
