Next Week in Munich – Vínarterta, London Grammar & The Prodigy

ISN’T IT COLD?! Thankfully, there are plenty of indoor activities lined up this week in Munich:

On Tuesday, my friend Sasha will be talking about vínarterta at Vivi’s place in Haidhausen.  Sasha is a Canadian food historian, and the workshop will take you through the cake’s history – from Iceland to many other parts of the world. Sign up by sending Vivi an email, and go hungry (there will be cake).

Also on Tuesday, Austria’s excellent Voodoo Jürgens is playing at the Muffathalle. I love his super catchy Heite grob ma Tote aus (excellent bit of Austrian-German for you) and he’ll be supported by another Austrian band, Naked Lunch. The show starts at 8:30pm and tickets cost 25 €.

A natural wine fair is on on Friday/Saturday at M BELLEVILLE, in Maxvorstadt. Entrance costs 10 € for one day, or 15 € for both, and you could go all out and enjoy the Dîner des Vignerons for 75 € – three courses paired with delicious natural wines.

On Saturday London Grammar are playing a sold-out show at the Tonhalle. They’re promoting their latest album, released mid-2017, which incredibly is only their second studio album. Their cover of Chris Isaac’s Wicked Game was recently used on a Peaky Blinders trailer, if you’re wondering if you’ve heard them recently.

The Prodigy are playing at Zenith on Saturday. They’re playing one of only two German shows, and are set to release a new album in early 2018.

One of my favourite MCs, Fiva, is playing with a big band at the Muffathalle on Sunday. Her texts are joyously poetic, and she’s one of Munich’s coolest musical exports.
