Next Week in Munich – Riot Days, Alt-J & Oscar Murillo

We’re already half way into the month, and I’ve finally dug myself out of the mountain of Christmas chocolates and turkey. Happy new year!

Here’s what’s on next week in Munich…

There’s an artist talk with Oscar Murillo at the Haus der Kunst on Thursday. Starting at 7pm and costing just 5 € (gentle on those January purse strings), Gabi Ngcobo, who last year co-curated the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo, will speak to young Murillo about his work and collaborative projects. The Colombian artist’s exhibition is showing at Haus der Kunst until March 18.

There’s a film festival starting at Gasteig on Thursday, with many films showing in OV.

Alt-J are at the Olympiahalle on Friday. There are a few tickets still available (around 50 €), but snap them up fast.

There is a pretty cool event on Saturday at the Muffathalle, titled Riot Days. Tagged a “story of protest and resistance”, founding Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina will perform alongside two other artists to detail life in Russia under Putin. There was a great review of Riot Days in the Guardian last summer, and it looks like it’ll be well worth the 30 € entrance fee.

On Sunday, the monthly Go Sing Choir! is on, stay tuned on Facebook to see what song will be sung.

And a last reminder – the Martin Parr photographs are exhibiting for just two more weeks at the Versicherungskammer. They are well worth catching, if you manage to pop by.
