Next week in Munich – I’m a Believer, Nathaniel Rateliff & Wallis Bird

The Lenbachhaus is playing host to a new exhibition starting Tuesday. I’m a Believer is all about pop art and contemporary art – from Warhol to Austrian painter Maria Lassnig, Daniel Man to Sigmar Polke. The vernissage is on Monday, from 7pm onwards.

On Tuesday, Austrian band Wanda will play a sold-out show in Zenith. They released their last album Niente last year, and are still riding on the waves of success from their 2015 hit single Bologna (still a firm favourite in my household).

The excellent Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats are playing a sold-out show in the Muffathalle on Wednesday.

On Saturday, Wallis Bird is playing a Hauskonzerte gig in MMA. Starkly contrasting her gig, LA rockers Black Label Society are playing Backstage Saturday. They’ve been going for twenty years, and released their tenth studio album, Grimmest Hits, in January of this year.

Jamie Lawson rounds off the week, with a show at Technikum. The singer-songwriter was the first musician to be signed to Ed Sheeran’s label, Gingerbread Man Records, and he’s most famous for his catchy single Wasn’t Expecting That.

And finally, all the excellent Oscar movies are in cinemas here. I, Tonya is showing in Cinema (in English) on Thursday, at 7pm (it’s also showing in English in Atelier 2 on Monday). Call Me By Your Name is showing in OV next Wednesday at Neues Maxim in Neuhausen as well as all week in City Kino 2, and Three Billboards is showing in City Kino 1 on Monday and Tuesday next week. Monopol will also screen Oscar winner Shape of Water throughout next week in English.

I’m also excited that the Monopol is showing the Jane Goodall documentary on Monday next week (5pm) – in English, with German subtitles.

Have a good week, folks!
