Next week in Munich – Crazy Horse, Ben Howard, Götz Widmann

The French are in town next week, with the Crazy Horse cabaret show. I desperately wanted to check out the show when I lived in Paris, but as a poor student I couldn’t afford their 105 € plus entrance fees.

Now the Crazy Horse team is on tour, and you can catch the Forever Crazy show in the Münchner Postpalast. Tickets start from 79 €, going up to 199 € for a VIP ticket. The show runs until December 15.

If that’s just not your scene and you fancy a night out without having to put on your Sunday best, catch Danish duo Raveonettes at the Atomic Cafe on Tuesday, 11th December. Their music’s pretty:

If you hadn’t noticed the queues at the post office, the mass of Christmas markets in the city or the onslaught of Wizzard and Mariah Carey songs, you can get into the Christmas spirit (bah, humbug!) at the Schloss Nymphenburg on Wednesday, 12th December. Tickets are available from 32 € and works from Handel, Dittersdorf and Corelli will be performed from 8pm onwards.

Also on Wednesday, the very funny Götz Widmann is in town, playing at the Milla Club. Admittedly, I’d never heard of the club until earlier today, but it looks cool – with concerts from Chicago-based jazz indie band The Sea and Cake and the AMAZING Daniel Norgren playing early next year. All upcoming concerts can be seen here. Back to Götz, he’s an ageing hippy, and I’ve never laughed so much at a concert. This is one of my favourite pieces – an oldie, but a goodie:

Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man is at Backstage on Wednesday, 12th December, with his partner in crime, Def Jam’s Redman. Seeing rap superstars in action is an early Christmas present for Munich, make sure you catch them.

Lovely, lovely London singer-songwriter Ben Howard is playing at the Muffathalle on Friday, 14th December. If you’ve got a ticket, I envy you. The show’s totally sold out. No surprise really, when the music’s this beautiful (I await your sighs):

The most bizarre event is taking place in the Olympiahalle next Friday to Sunday. Mick Hucknall and “I’m Outta Love”‘s Anastacia are coming together to perform at Munich’s very own Night of the Proms. I’m struggling to get my head around this one.
