I’m writing this as it’s 31°C outside – I’m on the hunt for my Factor 30. Right now, I imagine the last thing you’re planning for next week is a bunch of indoor activities. Alas, the sun won’t hold, so perhaps you might be after a few cultural activities to while away your evenings:
Monday sees the return of The Lemonheads in the Freiheizhalle. I say this is the gig of the week – despite them being most famous for a Simon & Garfunkel cover, they have had a prolific career. Evan Dando’s sadly no longer one of the world’s most beautiful people, he’s lost those dirty blonde locks, but they’re something of a cult band, if perhaps more for tales of crack and Courtney Love than their musical adroitness, which is a shame.
On Tuesday we have slideshow and live talk with Shlachthofbronx in Art Babel – the band are back for another round of slides from their tour after the success of the last “Diashow” in the Stadtmuseum. If that’s not your style, check out Timid Tiger, renowned for their cover of Britney Spear’s Womanizer. They’re playing in 59:1.
On Wednesday, you should check out the Pardon Ms. Arden single release party presented by LAXmag in Hansa39 (tickets 10 €). If you missed it, you can read my interview with lovely lead singer Nick here. It’s also the day before the bank holiday, so there are plenty of parties to frequent. The Superrave is back in Backstage – it kicks off at 10pm and the party goes on until the following morning – where you’ll be able to grab a beer in the beer garden. At eight in the morning.
The rest of the week is quieter, leaving you to watch the Champion’s League in bars – or if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket (last week tickets were being sold for 3500 € – right now these are a little cheaper…), in the Allianz Arena itself. If football doesn’t interest you, the Nachtkonsum flea market is on again in the Tonhalle. Hurrah! I’ll be at the opera on Saturday night – watching Anna Netrebko in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, an Italian tragedy. There are tickets left- but the price starts at 230 €. Ouch!
PS: It’s Mother’s Day THIS Sunday (13th May) – and Father’s Day on the 17th – get those flowers ordered!
