Next week in Munich – Theatron, Billy Bragg, DJ Bobo

Tomorrow sees the launch of the Theatron music festival over Whitsun – a three day pre-summer Theatron festival. Lots of local bands and a couple from further afield – Bright Light Bright Light from London, for example. Entrance is free and with a beautiful weekend expected, it’ll be a lot of fun.

Also coming up this weekend is the München Festival – as reported on last week.

On Monday left-wing activist / singer songwriter Billy Bragg is at the Muffathalle (the concert’s been moved from Backstage). The Moonband (recently at the Kulturstrand) will be at the Theatron on Monday, along with San Franciscan band Stil Flyin’ – rocksteady, summer sounds.

On Wednesday, Die Ärzte are at the Olympiahalle. The concert’s been sold out for so long, and I’ve heard many a friend raving about their live shows. If you’ve got a ticket, you’re in for a hell of a performance. If you haven’t snapped up tickets, but you’re in the area and like rock, London band Livingston will be performing at the BMW Museum.

Giving legendary rock band Die Ärzte a run for their money next week is….get ready for it….DJ Bobo. Yes. The Swiss hit Eurodance DJ is a) still making music and b) still allowed to perform. And the Olympiahalle on a Saturday night! It’s huge – who will fill it? Who are these Munich fans? The new tour is entitled Dancing Las Vegas and for a slice of Bobo’s Vegas, snap up a ticket – from 31 €-140 €. Plenty still available.

If Bobo’s not your thing (no, come on…) maybe Stephen Marley is? Check him out at Backstage on Saturday night.

Nicely rounding up the week is Paul Kalkbrenner at Königsplatz on Sunday. Substanz are also hosting a poetry slam Sunday night (entrance 6 €) if you are worn out from DJ Bobo and can’t take any more international DJs.
