Next Week in Munich – The Devil Makes Three, San Cisco & The Whiskey Foundation

We’re about to hit April – and Easter, and a very lovely long weekend. Hurrah! Despite the Easter break coming up, there’s still lots going on in Munich this week, and I’ve picked out the creme de la creme.

The week starts with Chuck Ragan at Backstage. Tickets are available for 30 € online, and it’s a chance to catch songs from his critically acclaimed album Till Midnight, released last year.

American Roots band Larkin Poe are at the Kranhalle on Tuesday, fronted by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell. The sisters have been backing singers for the likes of Elvis Costello and Conor Oberst, and are seriously experienced musicians. Tickets cost 30 € in advance, and they’ll be supported by Munich’s Beatnikboy.

Also on Tuesday, Australia’s San Cisco are playing at Strom. They released their latest album Gracetown earlier this month, and if you’re wondering where you know them from, I guarantee you’ve heard Run at least once in the past couple of weeks. Tickets cost 18 € here.

There’s a fun event at Einstein Kultur on Wednesday, promoting experimental music. frameless 01 will feature music from Tristan Perich, Lesley Flanigan, Stéphane Garin and Céline Flamen.

Put on your dancing shoes and check out The Whiskey Foundation at the Muffathalle on Thursday. The Munich five-piece are excellent fun (see the below song to get you in the mood), and tickets cost just 15 € on the door.

There’s a vernissage in the Farbenladen on Easter Sunday, featuring five Munich painters. The vernissage kicks off at 2pm and runs until 8pm, giving you plenty of time to get down there and check out the art.

Also on Sunday, The Devil Makes Three are playing at Strom. I love the California trio’s music, and for me, this is the gig of the week.

If the weather’s bad and you’re looking for Easter holiday activities, a cool exhibition started at the Amerika Haus last week, called Wild America. The exhibition features photographs of 21 wilderness areas in the U.S., and entrance is completely free. Click here for more info on opening times.

And if you have Easter vacation and haven’t yet planned how to spend it, you could treat yourself to a mountain detox at Miramonte in Bad Gastein. With Berlin’s Los Angeles Cold Press juices, Kundalini yoga, meditation and spa detox treatments, you can spend Easter getting fit and healthy, instead of devouring Easter eggs and eating way too much for brunch.

Also, I’ve made a short playlist for the gigs on this week – you can find it on Spotify here. What do you think?
