Uferlos Festival Freising 2014

Freising’s Uferlos Festival is back for the sixth time, and boy, do they have a program lined up for you. From May 23 to June 1, over 100 acts will be performing across six stages – and most of the shows are completely free.

Procol Harum’s gig at the festival isn’t free (unsurprisingly), but if you’re quick, you can still snap up tickets for the show. They’ll be playing in the Luitpoldhalle on May 29, and tickets are available here for 37 €.

There are lots of cover bands playing the festival (if you have interested parents, they should head to the Sparkassenzelt), but Uferlos has lined up plenty of fun, energetic young bands too – from Bavaria and around the world – here are a few I’ve picked out:

On May 30, Los de Abajo, a (cult) band from Mexico City will be playing the Sparkassenzelt’s stage at 10pm. They’re currently on a European tour and I urge you to go see them – the band has played Glastonbury, WOMAD, the Paleo Festival…and now, just for you, will be putting on a show full of energy in Freising.

Austria’s König Leopold will be playing the Freisinger Bank Zelt at 8:30pm on Saturday, May 24. Seriously good fun:

Also hugely fun is Liquid, who raps in Bavarian. He’ll be playing the Freisinger Bank Zelt at 8:30pm on the Sunday (May 25). If you’re as taken with Bavarian rap as I am, you can download Liquid’s album for free, here.

If you didn’t manage to get tickets for next Monday’s sold-out OK Kid gig at Strom, do not fear – they are playing the Uferlos Festival. They will be in the Freisinger Bank Zelt on May 29, promoting their new EP Grundlos.

Bavaria’s Impala Ray will be playing at the festival on May 27. The band has been playing a few small gigs in and around Munich, and they deserve your support. If the recent weather has meant you haven’t been to the mountains for a while, here’s a little video from Impala Ray to inspire you:

Reminding me of Parov Stelar, Austria’s Erwin and Edwin will make you dance. They’re at the festival on May 30, if Procol Harum’s not for you:

Take a look at the full program here, and let me know what you’re off to see!
