ARTMUC 2018

ARTMUC 2018 is back! From 9-11 November, 2018, over 80 artists from around Europe will be exhibiting at what has become Munich’s largest art festival.

The focus is very much on contemporary art – street art, multimedia installations, digital art and photography, but you’ll find oil paintings there too.

ARTMUC was founded by Raiko Schwalbe back in 2014, whose aim has always been to make art accessible. Instead of exclusive, invite-only, sell-your-soul-for-a-canvas art festivals, Schwalbe wanted to make sure art was attainable. As such, the pieces on sale are within a reasonable price range. This means it’s possible to pop to the art fair and come home with a one-of-a-kind artwork from your favourite artist.

The festival will be held at the Praterinsel and features several highlights – this year’s emerging gallery is Galerie Frey from Germering, a contemporary gallery with around a dozen artists on their books. Another highlight includes HFF students’ multimedia installation – a continuation of a project started last year. And finally, Portuguese artists are in the limelight, with a project being curated by João Carvalho (no, not the footballer).

I’m giving away two tickets for ARTMUC. Just drop me an email (win @ artsinmunich.com) by midnight on November 7th, 2018, and I’ll pick a winner at random to be added to the guestlist.

For the rest of you, tickets cost €13 on the door (students €11) and people under the age of 16 get in for free. If you fancy joining the preview, it’s being held on 8th November from 7pm. Tickets cost €16, but includes a welcome drink – and you get to see all of the artworks on display before anyone else does.
