Founded in 2010, the Stijl DesignMarkt promotes independent, creative and local crafts people. Now running in seven cities around Germany, the fair offers the perfect opportunity to hunt out some one-off pieces of furniture, brand new handbags, jewelry and accessories, and offers the opportunity to discover lots of small independent stores/cafes. Oh, and I hate myself for saying this in October, but Christmas really isn’t that far away – and Stijl is the ideal place to pick up a few gifts.
Around 85 exhibitors will be at the fair, and I’ve picked out a few of my favourites:
In their store close to the English Gardens, Cheers from Downtown offers a platform for small Bavarian labels to sell their wares. This clutch is absolutely stunning.
I am dreaming of a Cocii bangle from their 2014 collection, and I am in love with Claudia Lassner’s elegant 1920s designs.
Lovingly crafted, Made in Munich skateboards.
Handprinted tees, vest tops and sweaters – with beautiful graphics. I especially like their grey skull sweaters (currently on sale!).

To keep hunger at bay, the Munich food guerillas Tisch & Thymian and the pasta bar f0lks from NUDO will be keeping stomachs filled, and Yip Yab will be providing music on Saturday night for those wanting to party.
Entrance costs just 6 € (concessions 4 €), and the fair runs from 11am to 6pm on both days.
