Munich Creative Business Week 2019

Munich Creative Business Week is back from 9-17 March, 2019. It’s Germany’s biggest design week, and focuses on creativity in entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainable trends and groundbreaking designs from around the world – from start-ups to experienced designers.

There are all sorts of events planned around MCBW 2019 – ranging from TOCA ME (Munich’s excellent annual design conference), to architecture tours through the Olympic park, guided tours of theatres and the MUCBOOK Creative Night.

The MUCBOOK Creative Night will be held at Munich’s film school, the HFF, on 9 March. The evening is a chance to network with Munich’s best creatives, to listen to talks and debates, and to party with likeminded souls. Some of the speakers include Michi Kern and Christos Chantzaras, who will be talking about interim use of buildings in Munich (such as the case of the Lovelace), Johanna Peret will be talking about the Munich-founded company Recup, which aims to reduce the amount of waste caused by disposable coffee cups, and several speakers will be on hand to discuss Munich’s co-working spaces. Register for tickets (€10) here.

I’m rather interested in a guided tour of the Gärtnerplatztheater – you get to head backstage in the theatre that was built in 1865, and I love nosying around theatres.

If you’re a hands-on creative, there are after work sewing classes, wine and cheese workshops (yes please!), craft beer tastings and a design and DIY market. The Future Technologies workshop lets you to design your own AI robot in just three hours – and the best bit is that you get to take it home with you! Unfortunately, many of these events are solely in German, but if your German is good enough, go for it.

The full program is available online.
