Munich’s third Kunstareal Fest is taking place this coming weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, 130 cultural events will take place across thirty-two venues.
Munich’s Kunstareal is made up of a number of cultural institutions in the city’s museum district – the three Pinakothek museums are a part of it, as is the Brandhorst, the Glyptothek, the state collection of Egyptian art, the Lenbachhaus…the list goes on.
All sorts of events are planned for the two-day festival, from lectures, to tours, performances and workshops. German artist Alexis Dworsky‘s Steam’n’Dance performance sounds particularly fun (one of his recent projects was titled Graffiti for the Blind), and he’ll be putting on flash mobs across the Kunstareal all day on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, there’s a day-long family fete planned in Reich der Kristalle (I’ve never made it to Reich der Kristalle) and it sounds like a pretty fun day out for all ages. Plus free coffee and cake.
On Saturday, there are several guided tours in English (guided tours in other languages, including Chinese, Turkish, French and Italian are also planned), which is a lovely, inclusive approach to the city’s culture.
