Kulturstrand 2012

The Kulturstrand is back! Over 104 tonnes of sand have been shipped over to the Museuminsel at Professor-Huber-Platz – so that we can enjoy a taste of beach life in our metropolitan Munich. The beach is open from midday until 11pm – and if you arrive in the afternoon with kids, you can build sandcastles with them in a designated kid’s area.

If you’re wondering where you can watch the Champion’s League final, how about in a deck chair? The Kulturstrand will be showing the final live – get there early/bring your own deck chair to get a good spot!

The Kulturstrand is also where young Munich musicians get the chance to play their songs to a large audience – most people turn up to enjoy a beer and feel the sand in their toes – and if they get to hear a new Bavarian band at the same time, that’s cool too.

The Kulturstrand officially opened TODAY (and what better weather for a beach party?). Munich band The Moonband opened the party at midday, and you can expect a whole host of Bavarian goodness to appear on the stages over the next couple of months. If you love the beach and you enjoy culture, it’s the perfect place for you!
