Braukunst Live! 2018

It’s that time of year again – Braukunst Live! is back. This is your chance to sample the best of Germany’s craft beers (and some from wider afield) in one boozy weekend.

The full list of exhibitors is available online, but here are a few breweries I’m most excited about:

Tilman’s
My favourite Munich beer, Tilman’s Helles is packed full of flavour.

Brooklyn Brewery
Beer from further afield, this Brooklyn favourite has a wide range of IPAs, lagers, brown ales and seasonal specials.

Vulkan Brauerei
Located near Koblenz, this brewery does a great IPA (with a colourful, fun label, if you’re into designs).

BrewDog
I know, BrewDog is expensive (imported) and it’s everywhere – but the Scottish breweries beers are arguably some of the best craft beers in the world.

Events and workshops are planned over the weekend – you can register to take part in a workshop once you arrive. This year, the one stand-out talk is on female brewers – several successful women will be on hand to discuss brewing in what is still a male-dominated field.

Braukunst Live! will take place in the MVG Museum (the same place it’s always at), which means you can enjoy learning about Munich’s old transport systems while sipping beer. It’s a bit of a pain to get to unless you live in the area – but regular shuttle buses will carry you to and from Giesing station.

Day passes are available for 20 € – and if you buy online in advance, you’ll save yourself a lot of time at the gates.
