The Theatron Musiksommer kicks off tomorrow – the world’s longest open-air festival (according to the Guinness Book of Records). It’s completely free, and there are some great bands lined up for the next month.

Thursday, July 30
Inntal’s Django S. will play along side Monobo Son, a sideline project of LaBrassBanda’s Manuel Winbeck on Thursday. They both make livelymusic to dance to, and it’s an energetic way to start the month of Theatron gigs.
Wednesday, August 5
Bavarian band Oansno released their EP Schmankerl earlier this year, and are currently playing at lots of small festivals around Bavaria. Their music’s great fun, and you can catch them alongside percussion trio Wonnebeats on August 5.
Monday, August 10
Catch singer-songwriter Darcy play on August 10, before watching the creme de la creme of German youth film prizewinners. Four films will be shown, ranging from a documentary, two dramas and an animated movie.
Monday, August 17
The Feierwerk are taking over the Theatron for the week, presenting four up and coming artists on the Monday. One of whom is Manchester’s Matthew Austin, who makes the loveliest folk music.
Thursday, August 20
Berlin electropunk duo Tubbe are in town, playing alongside Munich’s Occupanther (who I heard was great at the PULS festival last autumn).
Friday, August 21
The superb Young Chinese Dogs are playing at the Theatron on Friday, launching their new album, Great Lake State. Their new single Phone Call is already out – and is very catchy:
Saturday, August 22
Impala Ray, Nick & The Roundabouts and Triska are playing at the Theatron on August 22, making for a very Munich indie evening.
