beirut beirut

This is my favourite lunch time spot in the whole of Munich. Freshly-made falafel, homemade hummus, an abundance of herbs and spices, and modern Lebanese-influenced decor. What more could you ask for? Khudor’s beirut beirut in Untersendling (close to the Südbad) is a gem in a district full of great places to grab a bite to eat. Daily, he offers a taste of traditional Lebanon in a cosy little cafe in one of the loveliest streets in Untersendling, Valleystraße.

Daily specials are also on offer, costing around 8 €, should you be after a hot meal. Dishes are hearty – the kind of food your grandma makes for you when you need some warming winter comfort food – lubia ma lahme (beans and beef in a tomato sauce), for example.

I must admit, I’ve only ever eaten the falafel and hummus sandwiches there, because they’re so damn tasty. Kudor fries the falafel right in front of you, and they’re as fresh as it gets. If you’re accustomed to grab’n’go falafels from dirty Döner bars, you really need to try out beirut beirut. Packed with coriander, mint, tomatoes, gurkins and homemade sauce, they’re deliciously full of flavour. He’s also recently introduced a new labne sandwich – with homemade cream cheese, mint and tomatoes.
