Cafe Daddy Longlegs

Cafe Daddy Longlegs

Annka, my favourite corn expert, had been away in Kansas for ten months, so I was looking forward to catching up with her at Cafe Daddy Longlegs for lunch last week.

I’d heard lots of positive things about the cafe, located in Maxvorstadt opposite the Neue Pinakothek. Their focus is on superfoods – acai berries, chia seeds and maca powder. The menu is short but comprehensive – from savory veggie and meat quesadillas to homemade quiches and cakes and their famous acai bowls and smoothies.

Acai berries are one of the healthiest berries on the planet. They’re a burgundy coloured fruit from Brazil, with apparent weight-loss and anti-ageing properties. Whether that’s true or not, they are packed full with antioxidants.

Annka and I both ordered a quesadilla and a smoothie. Portions are not huge, but for just under 5 €, it was a tasty, and relatively healthy lunchtime snack. The smoothies were delicious – thick, exotic and very freshly made.

The cafe is laid back – the colourful tiles make grey October days much sunnier than they are, and if you’re up early on a Sunday, you can enjoy one of the healthiest breakfasts in Munich, in a cosy, laid-back cafe, before heading out to the Pinakothek for just 1 €.
