Stenz deli: Munich

Stenz

There’s a new Bavarian deli in Sendling. Stenz opened its doors for the first time on October 30, offering locally-sourced produce all day long – from freshly ground coffee in the morning, to hot lunches, afternoon cakes, evening meals and delicious Bavarian nightcaps. What sets the deli apart from other Sendling cafes is the strong focus on regional wares. They have Mondino amaro, Bavarian gin, Slyrs whisky, lemonade made from Bavarian hops – Hopster, and homemade cakes from Kuchentratsch – a fantastic local project that enables pensioners to meet with other bakers, forge friendships and earn a little extra money.

The decor is fresh, colourful and clean – flowers decorate the room, orange wooden stools sit at clean white tables, motley cushions decorate the benches and outside, poufs brighten up the Lindwurmstraße.

I had lunch there yesterday – a hearty portion of Tafelspitz, fresh horseradish, potatoes and creamy savoy cabbage. They offer several daily specials alongside their classics, which include meatballs, schnitzel and quiche, salads and a soup of the day. Just make sure you save room for a slice of cake from Oma afterwards.

The deli’s located in the Maienzeit Carée, and is open Monday – Saturday 9am-11pm and Sundays from 9am-4pm.
