Next Week in Munich – The War on Drugs, Perfume Genius & Literaturfest

Philly’s The War on Drugs are in town on Monday, touring with their most recent album, A Deeper Understanding, which was released this summer, to critical acclaim. They’ll be playing at the Muffathalle, and if you have a ticket for the sold-out show, ENJOY!

The final Herzprojekt dinner is also taking place on Monday – I’ll be there, eating offal prepared by Vincent Fricke and enjoying Vivi D’Angelo’s beautiful photography. If you’re interested, contact Vivi to see if there’s a free spot – all the details can be found on her website.

On Wednesday, Perfume Genius is playing at Hansa 39 as part of an intense European and US tour. No Shape is one of my albums of the year, and Mike Hadreas has such a beautiful voice. Tickets are available for 24 €.

On Thursday, Container Collective is hosting a vernissage, MUNICH POP ART. Featuring Munich artists, the exhibition will run from November 23-26, with typography pieces, graffiti and silk-screen printing on display. Entrance is free.

Super fun 14 piece band g.rag y los hermanos patchekos are playing at Milla on Friday and Saturday. Tickets cost 17 € on the door and the local band are a great live band.

There’s a lot on as part of the Literaturfest, with Nigerian author Elnathan John talking about identity at the Literaturhaus on Tuesday. Tickets cost 10 €. On Sunday, director Oskar Roehler will be talking about his new, provocative book – Selbstverfickung. Check out the full program here.
