Next Week in Munich – PLUS, Schlachthofbronx & Louise Bourgeois

The week starts off with a demo organized by Bellevue di Monaco at Max-Joseph-Platz, protesting against the deportation of asylum seekers. Kundgebung: Platz da! has been set up to welcome refugees to Munich, and you can expect music from Blumentopf, Moop Mama and Jesper Munk.

The rest of the week is a little quieter. As summer reaches its peak, there’s not a great deal of shows or performances on this week in Munich, but plenty of festivals and markets. Oh, and the superb Louise Bourgeois exhibition at Haus der Kunst ends this Sunday, and I highly recommend you catch it before it closes.

Wander the markets at the Auer Dult this week, which runs until Sunday. It runs until 8pm daily (from 10am), and features antiques, kitchenware and lots of rides for the kids.

The summer Theatron – the world’s longest-running festival – starts on Thursday, and there are plenty of great local and international bands lined up over the course of the summer. It’s completely free too! On Thursday, LaBrassBanda’s Manuel Winbeck’s other band Monobo Son will take to the stage, and power groove trio Liquid Meat will play on Friday.

And on Saturday, Schlachthofbronx are helping the Rote Sonne celebrate its 10th birthday. Entrance costs 15 € and the show gets underway from 11pm – prepare yourself for an all-nighter.

For the complete antithesis of Schlachthofbronx, SOMA (the Andechs symphony orchestra) will be performing a concert at the LMU on Saturday, with music from Tschaikowsky, Grieg and Borodin. Tickets cost 18 €.

If you’re up for a whole lot more music at the weekend, Prima Leben & Stereo is on in Freising. Day tickets cost a very reasonable 34 € and lots of German bands such as Stilbruch, Impala Ray, Monaco F and Die Orsons will play.

I hope you’re enjoying the summer, folks!
