Munich’s labels and DJ teams have got together to set up a festival in the Postgaragen, near Hackerbrücke, which will take place from 25-27 May. The 28 May is a bank holiday, meaning you can really let your hair down over the festival weekend. The festival’s keeping it local, unlike the very international festival at Berlin Tempelhof (this year in September, with the likes of Digitalism, Sigur Ros and Orbital).
The München Festival features a whole host of Munich bands – from varying genres and the ticket for the whole weekend costs 29,90 €. Our top tips are Flowerstreet Record’s Elektrik Kezy Mezy (Flowerstreet have recently had their website re-done and it looks lovely – check it out here) and the ZomboCombo crew. At 25 € there’s really no excuse not to check it out. If you love the Munich music scene, you can see all of your favourite bands in one place, and if you want to learn more about what Munich has to offer, you can see everything in one place over one weekend. I think Munich’s often overlooked as a music hub – in a similar way that Birmingham is often overlooked in place of Manchester and the north, but there really is a vibrant music scene here – with so many thriving young labels and creative artists.
