1st Munich Summer Night

I spent the weekend with friends camping in the hills. A friend has just bought a lot of land near beautiful Ammersee, so a bunch of us packed up our tents, sleeping bags and cool boxes filled with beer and headed down there to spend a weekend in the country.

Local Andechs beer was supplied, but I’d brought along a box of ales. I first discovered CREW ale last summer at Quattro Tavoli, and I’ve become a firm fan. At Braukunst, I tried their Munich Summer ale for the first time – and boy, is it good.

You really need to drink it from a glass to get the full aroma…but who brings ale glasses to a camping weekend? Still, it was pretty darned good.

CREW ale are celebrating the Munich Summer tonight at the Goldene Bar, in the Haus der Kunst. CREW are tickling your tastebuds, DJ Enno‘s providing aural accompaniment.

By the way, if you’re looking to buy the Munich Summer in a store, you’ll have a hard time. I drove to three markets on Saturday to pick up the remains of what was left – it’s sold out everywhere. But, if you’re quick, you can order a box online – it’s cheaper anyway – and will be delivered to your door.
